Sisters - ready for church

I had to get a quick pictures of the girls last Sunday in their pink and purple.

Water Fun

Sadie really enjoys playing with water on the deck. A few pieces of Tupperware, some measuring spoon and some sun block make for a happy girl. (The Walmart sticker is an extra bonus)

Another Funny Story

It seems Noelle is the funniest member of our family at the moment, so here is another funny story:
Last evening we had some friends over for dinner. They have a son Noelle's age named Zach. Partway through the night Noelle asked if she could offer Zach something to take home and borrow for a while. I thought this was a thoughtful and generous idea so I told her that would be fine.
Apparently the 'something' Noelle offered was a dress. Zach was more then willing to take the offered dress, but his dad told him that boys don't wear dresses. Zach wasn't put off, he simply asked Noelle if she had any boy dresses. Noelle quickly assured him that she did.

Miscellaneous Pictures

Here are some miscellaneous pictures I've been meaning to post:

Noelle's new room.

I painted it, my mom made the comforter and Brad helped me make the art 'clothesline.' The bed looks like it could use a headboard, but I guess that will come later.

Deck picnic
I ran some errands one morning and came home to this sweet scene

Cousins
Noelle and her Sauder cousins were enjoying a parade earlier in May. If you want to see what her Spence cousin does to her, visit my sister-in-laws blog and scroll all the way down.

Who's this girl on our deck?
Oh wait, that's Jacob Talbert in one of Noelle's sweatshirts.

Kid's Say the Darnedest Things

Last evening at small group Noelle said something cute that made everyone chuckle:
Heather Verst gave Noelle a nice compliment by saying "Noelle, your hair looks very nice tonight." Noelle replied very sweetly "Your welcome."

Then this morning Noelle said something that wasn't so cute, but I don't think she had any idea that the word she choose was very inappropriate so I chose to not draw attention to it:
We had our friend Melissa Talbert and her 2 kids over for a play date. I had draped a blanket over Noelle's little table so they could use it as a house or tent. I'm not sure what caused it but Noelle crawled into the 'house' and suddenly shouted "SH#*!" Melissa and I just stared at each other for a moment, a little shocked, and tried not to laugh too hard at Noelle's mistake.

Arbor on Deck and Other Projects

My most-impressive husband has been finishing up projects around the house. One of those projects was the arbor on our deck and perfect little benches for Sadie and Noelle. (They even nestle inside each other.) He's also added some hooks and shelves to the garage to better organize things as well as clean out the maze known as our dryer vent to prevent our house from catching on fire. Could any wife be more blessed?

Happy Anniversary to Us

May 24th is our anniversary but we had the opportunity to leave the girls at grandparents in VA to get a night away. We spent our 2 days at the Shenandoah National Park (Skyline Drive) and spent the night at Skyland Lodge along the way. Here are some highlights:

Our Wheels - compliments of my dad
Brad was in heaven and it didn't hurt that the weather was absolutely perfect (Thank you God!)

Our First Hike
We spent a long time laying on this rock listening to the water and enjoying the sun and breeze.

The view from our lodge

Our Second Hike
(it's not as scary as it looks - sort of)

Pretty flowers and pretty tree

"Apple Blossom" Time in VA

We were in VA for several days to take in our hometown's annual "Apple Blossom Festival". We enjoyed a Fireman's Parade on Friday evening and a Grand Feature Parade on Saturday, full of floats, clowns, bands, race cars, celebrities and just plain fun.
Noelle and Grammy with a coveted bag of cotton candy.

Disgruntled Nanny on the Loose

After discovering this poor baby doll in my hall bathroom I feel amply warned that there's a disgruntled nanny running loose in our house. Since I had to fire her for a very similar action just days ago, I'm certain this is a sadistic reminder not to leave Sadie unattended for too long.

(if this post confuses you, see the entry on 4/23)
