Sadie, encouraged by her older sister, will often times ask to go to the potty. I thought this was a good thing, but I didn't really want to start potty training until it looked like it was more then a novelty.
Well recently she's been asking more frequently and there's been a few times her diaper has been dry. Normally a parent would be excited about this. The problem is that we're going to VA in a few days to attend "The Apple Blossom Festival." Our hometown shuts down and they have a parade on Friday evening and a really big one on Saturday afternoon. There's also a 10k that Brad, his dad and brother will be running in and we'll want to be there to cheer them on.
If any of you have potty trained, you know that children do not wait for opportune times to announce they have to go potty...even if you had them go a short time ago when it was convenient. I really don't want to interrupt all our festivities to find a grossly disgusting port-o-potty that she may, or may not use.
Now when Sadie asks to go to the potty I half-heartedly say "No, we're not potty training right now and you can't make me!" then I take her to the potty.

Ramdom Thoughts
I don't have anything too great to report, but here are a few random thoughts:
Last Saturday was beautiful and we managed to spend most of the day outside. We went to Miami Whitewater Park (across the "great" river) to meet up with our friend's the Hocz's. The girls enjoyed climbing this tree.
On a side note, our camera is dying and most of our pictures have a pink tint to them. Looks like our anniversary gift to ourselves will be a new camera...isn't that how large purchases work?
Secondly, whenever I read my friends' blogs, it seems they're always cooking up something wonderful in the kitchen. I like to make bread, but don't do it very often. Since I got the urge, I thought I'd make some yummy rolls and photograph the dough in hopes of capturing the ideal of a warm, welcoming, wholesome kitchen that Melissa Talbert always seems to have in her pictures. Either her camera is a whole lot better or I'm missing an important part of warm, welcoming and wholesome because this picture is just not inspiring. I think I'll blame it on the lighting.

Lastly, I've been feeling closed in by all the stuff that accumulates over time so little-by-little I've been weeding out drawers, boxes and closets. The most recent victim was a box Brad has in his dresser that keeps miscellaneous thing that may be important.
Here's a few items I found that have long since lost their importance:

Here's a few items I found that have long since lost their importance:
- 3 sunglasses straps
- a goofy poem he wrote me for my 23rd birthday that bemoans the fact that we're getting old (I can't decide if I should laugh or cry)
- a Target receipt for my birthday gift, 6 years ago
- a list of possible Christmas gifts for me 2 years ago
- 21 guitar picks. They don't take up too much room, but 21 might be a bit much.
- His collage ID card from his freshman year. We'll keep that and call in memorabilia.

Easter Happiness
Our Easter weekend was a happy time of celebrating our risen Lord and enjoying fun activities:

Noelle's favorite gift was a pencil sharpener - that's my girl.

And last, but not least is a surprise gift from Della, the lady who bags our groceries at Kroger and LOVES Sadie. As I headed for the check out line Tuesday morning, I heard one of the managers say "Della, here she comes!" Sure enough, by the time our groceries were wrung up, Della was there with a plush, pink rabbit for Sadie, "wrapped" in a reusable grocery bag for me. I love Della.

Easter Eggs
Last night we decorated Easter eggs. We took a new approach this year and used small squares of tissue paper instead of dye. I read somewhere that if you use water to stick tissue paper to an egg, once the paper dries and falls off, the dye from the tissue paper remains.
We had a lot of fun making the eggs and it was much more interactive then past experiences of staring at an egg sitting in a cup of dye. After refrigerating the eggs over night, I peeled off a piece of tissue paper to see how much dye stays behind. We must have gotten low-dye tissue paper because you really can't see anything. Sooo, our eggs will remain with a stain-glass look, which is just fine by me.

Hottie Husband Heats up the House
Last week we were visiting family in VA during Noelle's spring break. We enjoyed some great down-time with both sets of parents and Brad's brother's family.
A few days after we returned home, our heater decided to give out. 2 years ago we had trouble with it and Brad impressed me by getting it going again. This time around I hoped he could perform his magic again, but I wasn't counting too strongly on it. After all, how amazing can a pilot/worship leader be?
Well, let's just say hottie husband knows how to heat up the house! One day and an Ebay purchase later, the heater is up and running with a new heating element.
In keeping with the theme, you may catch Brad "burning" up the road in his "new" (used) car. After months of saving and researching, Brad found his perfect car - an '03 BMW 330i. (well it might not might be perfect, but it certainly has a lot going for it). It's cute and zippy and gets great gas mileage. He's very willing to show it off for anyone interested :)
